Deep listening is about the constant need for mob living with a disability to tell their stories, and the story of a young girl who found herself constantly dreaming, dreaming of colors, of sounds, of country, of the water on country, the sounds that told her, new colors were coming each day before school.

Each day she would wake early, excited to see what each day would bring, would she see soft ochres, or would the skies reflect the colors of the water, and with that she would wait each day. 

The elders would ask the girl, girl, where you been, you been there watching them skies again, and the young girl would nod, no words just a smile, her hair wild, her heart racing, and yet she spoke not a sound, she just listened.

This girl, she was special, she did not need any words, she did not need to ask, she told her stories in the most beautiful ways. Her eyes were full of gold, but they reflected the colors that she had seen, and this was her story, told her ways.

The White represents the girls' families, and the lines show how the families all worked differently with the girl but were all a part of her story each day.

The lines have not been broken to show how our elders embrace each of our babies, our grannies, our sons, our dorts, and how they do it so beautifully, without judgement, without question, without seeing you any differently.

The Blues represent the water, where the girl would sit each day, following her song lines, learning to be strong like her Aunties, like her Elders.
